Packing List (Warm)

Fun & Easy Packing Lists for Kids

Family Trip Prep: Make Packing a Playful

Turn packing into a fun activity! Packing doesn't have to be a chore. We can make it a playful activity with your kids. The packing lists cover common items kids usually bring on trips to warm destinations.

For example, you can ask your child, "Pick three of your favorite short-sleeved shirts and bring them to me!" It gets them thinking about what they like. In my experience, I loved seeing what my child picked. It was both adorable and surprising! It's a great way for kids to practice following directions and expressing their preferences.

The packing lists are for both girls and boys. If an item doesn't apply to your child, feel free to cross it out or mark it with a "0" in the "How many?" box section.

Activity Prep

  • Download & print the PDF below

  • Writing tools (pencils, colored pencils, markers, etc)

  • (Optional) Clipboard

How to Use

Step 1: Download and print the PDF.

Step 2: Talk with your child about the trip. Share where you're going and how long you'll be away, so that they can get excited and understand what they'll need.

Step 3: Write down your child's name, trip date, and your destination.

Step 4: Packing time! Start at the top of the list and let your child help pack. For example, "Pick three of your favorite short-sleeved shirts and bring them to me!" If you have a specific request, such as "no buttons," mention that ahead of time.

(*The packing list works for both boys and girls. If there's something your child doesn't need, cross it off or write "0" in the "How many?" box.)

Step 5: After they bring the items, check the "Leaving Home" box. Then keep going!

Step 6: If you need extra space for personal items (for example, an iPad, headphones, ear plugs, etc.), use the blank version of the list.

Step 7: Bring the list with you: You can use it again when leaving your destination to ensure nothing gets left behind.

Have a wonderful trip!
