Short a Vowel Rhyming

Goal

Letter Sounds: L.K.2.C / L.K.2.D

This exercise introduces short words with "a" vowel sounds using words the students may already be familiar with. Our goal is to encourage students to develop phonemic awareness by repeating rhyming words with the short "a" vowel sound.

  • Scissors or Utility knife Grownup use only. Not for the students! (*Please handle it carefully.)

  • Cutting mat or thick cardboard if you use a utility knife

  3. Place one of the word list sheets behind the cut-out paper.

  4. Slowly slide down the cut-out paper.

  5. Read aloud each word that appears.
