Goal

Counting and Cardinality: K.CC.A.1

This enjoyable game will help students recognize matching written numbers to numbers of items.


Activity Prep

  • Download & print the PDF below

  • Card stock print paper (*Optional, but we highly recommend it. If you print on regular paper, the other side will be visible.)

  • Writing tools (pencils, colored pencils, markers, etc.)

  • Coloring tools (markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc.)

  • Scissors (*Please help with scissors as needed.)


How to Play

Number of Players: 

  • 2 players (A single player can also play by trying to find all the matching cards as quickly as possible.)

Setup:

  1. Download & print the PDF.

  2. For the cards with numbers, color them in. For the cards with dots, color the dots following the numbers on the card. 

  3. Cut out the printouts to make the number cards. 

Playing:

  1. Shuffle the deck of cards and spread all the cards face down.  

  2. First player, pick two cards and turn them face up.

  3. If the cards match, keep them and take another turn.

  4. If they don’t match, turn them face down again.

  5. Take turns until all the cards are gone.

  6. The player with the most matched pairs at the end wins.
