Pretend Play Idea: Inspired by Legend of Zelda

Mommy. Call me Link. Where is my bow?

When my son turned 5, he became a massive fan of the video game “Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.” He loved the whole world of that game, and his real-world turned into the Zelda world. He started to call himself Link, and he couldn’t stop drawing all characters, stats, and so on… It was amazing to see how much he loves something that deep level. I literally saw the spark in his eyes!

When he received hand made Link costumes from his grandma, we gave him toy archery to match his outfit. Then we drew the characters from the game and made them as archery targets for playing!

 What We Used

  • Cardboards
  • Sharpies
  • Crayons
  • Binder clips (optional)

His dad drew the outlines of the characters, and our son painted them with crayons. Teamwork!

We removed the handle part from a binder clip and used it as a stand. Place all those characters and ready to play!

We also made other targets out of peanut butter jar’s lid and hanging it out from the tree. It was fun play inside and outside!
