Main Idea

Activity Prep

(What we used)

  • Reference food images (found online or in books)

  • A variety of LEGO bricks

  • LEGO baseplates for construction stability

How We Made

Making our favorite food with LEGO bricks was fun! We looked for pictures of our favorite foods online and in books to use as references. It was hard to choose which food to create because LEGO bricks has limited color options, but the project turned out to be really enjoyable! It was a great activity for the weekend!

Sushi (Nigiri Sushi)

We decided to make several dishes, starting with sushi! My son specifically requested that we prepare his top choice, ikura (salmon roe). This turned out to be a delightful challenge that was both fun and rewarding. Here’s the delicious sushi we created: (Top left) salmon roe, Japanese horse mackerel, octopus, and shrimp. (Bottom left) sea urchin, giant clam, tuna, and egg.

Burger, Fries and Drink

Next up was the classic American meal: a burger with fries and a drink. My son had never tried soda before, so we included a LEGO soda cup as part of our meal.

Although we only made the foods in 2-D, it would be fun to challenge ourselves by trying to create them in 3-D as well. This activity will be a wonderful opportunity to bond with the kids while nurturing their curiosity about cooking and food.
