Story
One day, I walked into the living room and found my toddler son giggling as he played with his ABC wooden toys. I looked closer and realized he was spelling! He was copying the spelling of words he found around the room. He didn’t know how to read at that time, but he enjoyed this activity like a fun puzzle game.
How We Played
Look for items that have short and simple words written in uppercase letters. For example, "BIG" is found on the book cover. Kids can match their ABC blocks to the word. Once they finish, read the word out loud together while touching each block.
If they cannot match, that is totally fine! This game is meant to be enjoyable, using ABC blocks to introduce spelling in a fun way.
