Design and Build a LEGO Marble Maze Using Simple Problem‑Solving

Kids built a marble maze using LEGO bricks, creating a fun indoor activity that explores STEAM concepts in a hands-on way!

In This Activity

Creating a maze with LEGO bricks is a great activity to promote children's critical thinking!

Activity Prep

(What we used)

  • LEGO Bricks

  • Lego Baseplate

  • Marble

  • (Optional) A small toy to serve as an obstacle or to block the way.

⚠️ Safety First!

Some learning materials, such as marbles, buttons, LEGO bricks, or beads, can pose a choking hazard for little ones. Please keep an eye out and use child-safe alternatives when possible. Let’s keep playtime both fun and safe!

Kids made the marble maze with LEGO bricks, and it is a fun indoor activity and also it's a hands-on way to explore STEAM concepts

How We Played

  1. Start by creating a simple course to understand how it works.

  2. Once your kids understand it, make it more fun and complex.

  3. Set the marble and start playing!

This activity is great for helping kids think critically, understand space, and develop patience. In our experience, it required more patience than I expected. My son was a preschooler and loved building the maze. However, when we tested it and it didn't work, he got frustrated. Over time, he got used to testing and fixing it, which led him to create a more complex version of his maze!
