Activity Prep
(What we used)
6 eggs
Paper towels
Soup pan
Water
Tongs or ladle (I prefer tongs)

How We Did
Important: Please do not attempt this experiment without adult supervision.
1.Take any piece of paper and note down the cooking times for eggs. We tested cooking times of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15 minutes. (We wrote down the cooking times on the paper towels)
2. Place all the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with water.
3. Put the saucepan over high heat and bring the water to a boil.
4. Once the water reaches a boil, start timing with a stopwatch (phone).
5. Carefully remove the egg once its cooking time is finished and place it under the cooking time note.
6. After all the eggs are cooked, peel off the shell. (**Wait to peel the eggs until they are completely cool.)
7. We prepared all the eggs for the taste test.
8. Cut them in half and observe the textures of the yolks!
We tasted different boiled eggs to find our favorite. My son liked hard-boiled eggs cooked for 12 to 15 minutes. I preferred the 6-minute boiled egg because it was creamy. My husband enjoyed the 4-minute boiled egg, which had a slightly runny yolk. The best part of this experiment is that now we all know our favorite types of yolks and how long to boil them!
