Fun Hands on Activities with Kids

Play-Doh Pretend Play Guide to Crafting Perfect Pizzas!

Main Idea

When you have Play-Doh at home, collect small items to use as pizza toppings. You can create a homemade pizza shop for pretend play.

Activity Prep

(What we used)

  • Play-Doh (any color)

  • Small items for toppings (like small LEGO brick pieces, buttons, beads, googly eyes, shredded paper, small Play-Doh pieces, or cut felt and fabric)

  • (Optional) Small cups to store toppings separately (*We made small origami boxes)

How We Made

Play-Doh pizza with so many colorful toppings, such as beads, buttons, googly eyes, and more!

Use Play-Doh to create a pizza shape with dough and sauce. Then, add toppings to make it look delicious!

We already have toppings from the last activity, "Play-Doh Ice Cream Shop." We used all the toppings and added some shredded paper and green cutouts to look like basil leaves. This time, my preschool son made the dough and sauce himself, and he added many toppings all on his own.

It was a fun and easy activity! We did a similar activity where we pretended to run an ice cream shop and my son needed help making ice cream cones. This time, he could easily create all the pizza shapes on his own. He also had the same toppings from the last activity to use.
