Play-Doh Ice Cream Shop
Fun Hands on Activities with Kids
Creative Play-Doh Ice Cream Shop Ideas for Early Learners
Main Idea
When you have Play-Doh at home, collect small items to use as ice cream toppings. You can create a homemade ice cream shop for pretend play.
Activity Prep
(What we used)
Play-Doh (any color)
Construction paper or any paper (for ice cream cones)
Glue or tape
Small items for toppings (like small LEGO pieces, buttons, beads, googly eyes, shredded paper, small Play-Doh pieces, or cut felt and fabric)
(Optional) Colored Pencils or markers (to draw textures on the ice cream cones)
(Optional) Small cups to store toppings separately (*We made small origami boxes)
How We Made
Step 1. We used orange construction paper for ice cream corns. Make a corn shape and put it together with tape or glue. We drew some lines on corns for waffle corn looks.
Step 2. Make a shape of ice cream with Play-Doh. Then, put it on top of the ice cream cone.
Step 3. We can use a variety of items as ice cream toppings. Some examples include buttons, felt pieces, googly eyes, Lego bricks, beads, and small shapes made from Play-Doh. Cutting out pieces from the weekly ad paper can also be a fun option!
This activity was a huge hit! He loved the idea that he could put as many toppings as he wanted, and also make them look like fun and delicious ice cream. It was a fun activity to be creative while also following the customers' orders to make their ice cream. We stored the toppings and played this activity multiple times.
