In this exercise, we help students understand how punctuation marks can change the tone of a sentence. We also give them practice in writing question marks and exclamation marks.


Activity Prep

  • Writing tools (pencils, colored pencils, markers, etc)


How to Use

  1. Download and print the PDF.

  2. Trace the word "Hello" using different punctuation marks.

  3. Read it aloud with different tones:

    - Use a calm tone for a sentence that ends with a period (.).

    - Use an asking tone for a question mark (?).

    - Use an exciting tone for an exclamation mark (!) !

  4. Also, practice writing the question mark and exclamation mark.
