Goal

Letter Sounds

This chain game tests students ability to recognize the sounds of the consonants and short vowels they have been practicing and connect them to writing, all with fewer hints.

How to Play

  • This is an extended version of previous activity “Consonant Word Chains 1.”

Number of Players:  

  • 2 players (teaming up). *If a student is alone, the teacher can join.

Setup: 

  • Download and print the PDF

Playing: 

  1. Two players work together to guess a word.

  2. One player will trace and fill the blank. Take turns.

  3. The next word should begin with the last letter of the previous word. (For example: vesttop)  

  4. Keep taking turns to filling the blanks.
