How the Prefix ‘Pre-’ Changes Meaning

We will introduce some commonly used prefixes. This activity aims to help students understand that the prefix "pre-" typically means "before," and adding "pre-" alters the meaning of the word.

Cutting mat or thick cardboard if you use a utility knife
How to Use
Download and print the PDF file.
An adult should cut out the gray box for the students.
Place the word list sheet behind the cut-out paper.
Slowly slide down the cut-out paper.
Check how its meaning changes when you add a prefix.

Please ensure that adults cut out the gray box for students.
Feel free to invite students to share any other words that begin with the prefix "pre-." It would be great to hear their ideas!
