In This Lesson

This exercise can help students understand that a question is a specific type of sentence. The puzzle game will assist them in forming questions, which follow two important rules: they must start with a capital letter and end with a question mark (?).

How to Play

Number of Players:  

• The Player: 1 or 2 (Teaming up)

Setup: 

1. Download and print the PDF.

2. Cut out all the cards.

3. The teacher shows what a question mark looks like.

4. Spread all cards randomly on the table or floor, face-up.

Playing: 

1. There are 5 colors for the sentences: orange, blue, green, pink, and purple.

2. The teacher calls out one color.

3. Player(s) collect the cards of that color to make a sentence.

4. The sentence must start with a capital letter and end with a question mark (?).

5. After forming the sentence, the player asks the teacher for confirmation.

6. If the sentence is correct, they move on to the next color.  

7. Keep playing until all the cards are used.

• If students need help reading each sentence, it may be helpful to read all the sentences before starting the game.
