Learn Past Tense Verbs with -ED Suffix
In This Lesson
We will explain how adding "-ed" to a verb changes its meaning to show that the action happened in the past. Students will trace the "-ed" suffix and practice saying sentences out loud using some common past-tense verbs.

How to Play
Number of Players: 1 - 4
Setup:
Download and print the PDF.
Cut out all the cards.
The teacher reads all the cards aloud so everyone knows the words.
Spread the cards on the table, face up, and gather around.
Playing:
Decide who will go first and play in a clockwise direction.
The first player picks one card.
Everyone asks together, “What did you do today?”
The player makes up a fun sentence using the word on the card. For example, if the card says “played,” the player could say, “I played with many dinosaurs!”
Take turns until all the cards are used.
Students keep their cards and trace the suffix -ed.
