Hands‑On Addition: Match the Correct Window


This fun math activity is a great way for kids to tackle word problems while practicing their addition and subtraction with numbers up to five using cute window and bird images.

In This Lesson

Students will practice picturing the word problems. Read the word problems together and pick the matching picture that the question describes.


 

Activity Prep

  • Download & print the PDF below

  • Scissors (*Please help with scissors as needed.)

  • Glue or tape


 

How to Use

  1. Cut out all the window images.

  2. Read the instructions aloud with the teacher.

  3. Pick the window image that matches the question described. *Multiple images show the same number of birds, but students can choose either one.

  4. If it’s the correct image, students will place it in the dotted box with glue or tape.

Note

  • Please sit with your students and read the instructions aloud together. 

  • Encourage them to say the numbers in the question aloud.
