Students use the number cards from the previous lesson to practice subtracting one from the number they draw.


Activity Prep

  • Download & print the PDF below

  • Number cards from the previous lesson (Number Cards (0-10))

  • Small bowl or plate for snack as needed


How to Use

  1. Download & print the PDF.

  2. Make a deck of the number cards (0 - 10) face down.

  3. Draw one card out of the deck and place it on the printout where it says “Place Your Number Card.”

  4. Subtract one from the number, then call aloud the answer. For example, if the card is 6, you eat 6 from 10 snacks, then see how many snacks are left.

  5. Are you still hungry? Try more!


Teachers

  • Please encourage students to count aloud when setting up the 10 snacks and the eating snacks matching that match the numbers they drew.
