Which Number is Less? (1-10)

Goal

Counting and Cardinality

Students will practice which is less between two numbers.


Activity Prep

  • Download & print the PDF below

  • Playing cards

  • Writing tools (pencils, colored pencils, markers, etc)


How to Play

Number of Players: 

2 Players *A teacher can join as needed.

Setup: 

  1. Download & print the PDF

  2. Remove the Joker, Jack, Queen, and King cards from the deck.

  3. Explain that Ace (A) represents the number 1.

  4. Create two sets of 1-10 each.

  5. Each player places their sets of cards face-down on the table.


Playing: 

  1. Both players flip over a card at the same time.

  2. Write each card number in the box on the printout.

  3. The player with the less number circles the box.

  4. If both numbers are the same, no need to circle.

  5. Play five rounds in total.

  6. After all rounds, both players count their circled boxes.

  7. The player with the most circles wins the game!
