Body Tracing: Learn About the Human Body with Kids
Fun Hands on Activities with Kids
Creative Body Tracing Activity for Understanding Human Anatomy
Main Idea
After reading and learning about the human body, this activity helps kids understand the actual size of their bodies. Adding cut-out organs made of construction paper is optional but adds more fun.
Activity Prep
(What we used)
Large paper (We used brown masking paper purchased from a home improvement store.)
Pencil
Marker
Construction paper
Scissors (*Please help with scissors as needed.)
Image of the human body (Books, printed copies from the internet, etc.)
How We Did it
Step 1. Trace
First, use a pencil to trace your child’s outline. Do not use a marker, as it could stain their clothes.
My son was surprised by how big his body actually was.
Step 2. Make it more visible
Next, trace over the pencil lines with a marker to make them easier to see.
Step 3. Bones (Optional)
My son decided to draw bones by referencing anatomy books from his bookshelf.
Step 4. Organs (Optional)
He also drew his organs with construction paper.
Once he finished drawing, he cut them out with scissors. (*Please help with scissors as needed.)
Step 5. Finishing up (Optional)
Finally, he arranged all the organs he had made.
That's it—you're done!

Human Body Theater: A Non-Fiction Revue" by Maris Wicks
This book is very entertaining. It uses a graphic novel (comic) style to show information about the human body.
