Collecting Pinecones: A Chore That Combines Fun and Learning
Main Idea
After the strong wind day, our backyard was covered by so many pinecones! It was a fun chore for my preschooler son: fun, exercise, outside time, allowance, and achievement for him.
Activity Prep
(What we used)
Bucket, garden cart, or wheelbarrow
How We Did
Our son was bored and needed his wiggles out, so we suggested he collect pinecones to make money. We offered to pay him one cent for each pinecone he gathered.
He was so excited when he saw the backyard covered in pinecones! After about 30 minutes of running around outside, he finished his chore with his garden cart full of them. We counted together, and it turned out he collected over 600 pinecones!!!!!! I couldn't believe it.
He was so happy and satisfied after he earned his chore money. It was a great exercise and also a fun activity. We felt happy and proud every time we looked at the backyard through the window!
